TODAY’S CONNECTION: Time brings order; Disorder disrupts time

The most essential thing about time is your  life!

For most Baby Boomers today, time is intricately linked to working longer, saving  money and chosen life style.

Most of you are too busy working hard to make a living forgetting that you could work yourself to death.

Time saving tips for busy Baby boomers is a must  if you want to achieve your goals and remain healthy.

The problem for most of you  is  how  do you merge the present (Working Longer) with your future(retirement) when you have been told that you have a savings shortfall to catch up with.

I do  wonder sometimes if the government is telling the whole  truth about pensions and savings.

The question that comes up is:  Will I have enough time to earn a decent living, have a pension, enjoy life with family and live comfortably without stress and anxiety.

Yes you can!  If you have a decent plan supported by goals in place.

You  do not have to do it all?

Having  the wisdom to stop, look and listen to your heart is crucial.

Lets lay down some tips for you to work with.

*1.WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT: Do an assessment on yourself.  Write down what is important and how to achieve them. For  Example: I want to work part-time and spend more time with my family. How are you going to achieve it? Write down your plans clearly. Take Action!

2 WHO ARE YOU REALLY-Personality and character can have an impact on your time. Are you prone to last minute plans, are you scattered, do you do unnecessary things?  Use a ‘me map’ to manage your time-line. This is observed from your bad habits.  I write a note to myself on a post-it to be prepared’.  You can too.

3. YOUR INSPIRED GUIDE PLAN-Before you go to bed write your day plan for the next day. Read it to yourself, then imagine how you are going to carry it out step by step. Meditate then go to bed and let your subconscious mind take over.  The next day with a clear head start your days plan with a clear mind. All will be well. Tip:Create a weekly planner on your mobile phone and highlight your days clearly.

4. GOALS /AGELESS MANIFESTO:  As you work towards your plans goals/Ageless manifesto or both gives you the direction and serves as a mission statement. Write down short , medium  and long-term goals. Fill in the gaps. refer  to *1  again to help you focus. You will find that you will not only save time it gives you clearer picture of what you want.  My ageless manifesto is hanging on the wall as a reminder.

5.MULTI-TASKING TIME  BOMB: Doing too many things at once can cause chaos, confusion and blunders. For example losing money you cannot afford.  Finish one thing before starting another. For example before writing this blog, I started preparing an assessment for a client which I will go back to once I have completed this blog.  Phone messages will go to voice mail.

6 HANDLING STRESS: Not everything goes as plan. But knowing yourself will help your achievements. Do you thrive on pressure? Are you easily stressed out about the future and what it will bring. There is a correlation between stress and time. If you life is disorganised  it can cause chaos. Take stock and pay attention to what’s important.  Know the difference between your wants and needs. In this economy the focus is on needs rather than wants. Frugal living is the way to go.

7.MAKE SMALL CHANGES: Time is not set in stone. Things change and sometimes you  change too. So the most important thing you can do is to adapt  your time management according to your life story. For instance, you may change from full-time to part-time because of redundancy. This may have an effect on your retirement savings timeline and family. But  you  can fall back on an unused skill and work from home and earn a living.

A busy lifestyle when organised can bring you work life balance and fulfilment rather than unwanted stress. The detail is in the planning.

There you have it!

Which of these tips apply to you? Do you have some tips to share? Let me know.

Thanks for reading

Kind Regards

You may not be previleged to be royalty but you are previleged to serve in your chosen career.

Today there is no longer  career  for life.  It’s a time of uncertainty and  economic challenges. Through it all learning how to cope and  thrive  just like the Queen is one of the endearing qualities that can help you grow .

Todays Connections: The mind never retires only if you want it to

We have all heard the statistics; Baby boomers(born 1946-1964) are healthier, living longer better and want to retire later blah, blah. If you ask me these are gifts and blessings that we have been given and I am thankful. But what’s missing is the link between retirement and career which connects your life called your ‘INSPIRED GUIDE’.
WHAT IS INSPIRED GUIDE: It’s the connection between your genius within i.e intuition, vision, subconscious mind or the God within (learn how to access it you would indeed live longer, happier wealthier and much better), authentic self(real self), your natural strengths for career and retirement(ignore your weaknesses) and your life experience ( there are many).
Inspired Guide was giving to me in a vision one afternoon while resting in a chair 2002. The inspired guide newsletter for personal development was born. Also it’s a tool I use for career coaching for baby boomers. The newsletter will soon be revamped for baby boomers to enjoy. I will keep you posted

Here are 5 reasons why Inspired Guide is the link between your retirement and career:
1. BABY BOOMERS CAREER AND RETIREMENT MEDIA CONNECTIONS: Apart from building family and friends connections. How about getting to grips with the digital age by expanding career life to social media such as blogging, facebook, twitter, you tube and more. Connect these with your iphones, ipads and blackberry. It helps you gain new work, contracts and projects in link with your life. I am still learning the how to use social media to benefit my career and planning my retirement. http://www.clickz.com/clickz/column/2042278/buzz-social-media-business-decision

2. BABY BOOMERS AND MEANINGINGFUL LIFE: As you get older you will want to attach yourself to connections with meaning. There is a great opportunity to find meaning in voluntary work, charities, mentoring, coaching and giving back. I hope to give back to my west African roots in health and education. Its great to think about others and a legacy that appeals to your ‘inspired Guide’. http://www.livingdharma.org/MemorableSermons/Harada-MessageToBabyBoomers.html
3. BABY BOOMERS AND PLAN B CAREER: Yes its important to do what you love. But as we all are aware we are experiencing the biggest austerity measures in a long time. So having a ‘cousin like’ career plan B will help soothe the change. If you are having a hard time finding an accounting placement you are passionate about adapt your skills for now for example book keeper, auditor or financial planning. Weather the storm until things get better. I am a career coach but my skills extend to stress management, recruitment, counselling, numerology and medicine. I fit in where I am needed. I keep my options open. We are living in a multi-career economy. It does not make us less passionate in what we do.
4. BABY BOOMERS AND FUNCTIONAL AGE : You are not your age especially in the workplace. I cannot wait for the day when the birth certificate becomes redundant. This was the reason why I throw in the towel and went freelance. I have never looked back. If you have been taken for granted in terms of your work load. Identify where you can prioritize and what is unrealistic. Most important first to least important. The economic climate has brought a new kind workload that could be stressful. If you feel over stretched and stressed talk to your line manager. Do not let things fester it makes you lose interest in your career. If you feel its not for you, have you got PLAN B? Do you want to become a freelance consultant/coach or start a new business if the workplace is not for you. (give link)

5. BABY BOOMERS AND AGELESS CAREER MANIFESTO: Forget about a mission statement or setting goals. Yes they are important but replace it with an ‘ageless career manifesto’ you will get a lot more satisfaction form how you want to live in your world and you can change and adapt it according to your life. It is written intention of your life on what is important to you. It is how you want to live it, health, enjoy, passion, change, experience and even include your life legacy. As usual ‘Ageless Career Manifesto’ was given to me by my ‘inspired guide’ as I walked out of a super market. I had no idea at the time that a manifesto extends to ones personal life. How amazing is that! So I took my time and wrote one to all Baby Boomers everywhere. For example,1. ‘I seek to help you unleash your Inspired guide so that you can achieve the career you want and not others. 2. ‘ I will strive to remove ‘age’ from career coaching and seek the wealth of your ageless mind. Write yours today. Place it on the wall and live it. http://www.wowowow.com/lifestyle/7051/
